In my last post, I explained that quinoa is nutritionally better than rice. Here’s instructions on how to cook quinoa.
As with rice the same general rule of one part quinoa to two parts water apply.
Before rushing to buy your packet of quinoa you need to be aware that there may be stones within the seeds. Quinoa should be thoroughly checked for stones before cooking.
Measure the quinoa and check thoroughly for stones. Wash thoroughly & soak the quinoa in water for a few minutes.
Using a sieve drain the water. Pour hot boiling water into the pan with the quinoa. Cook the quinoa until the water starts boiling.
Reduce the heat, put the lid on and cook for 10 – 12 minutes.
Let the quinoa sit for a few minutes.
The quinoa is cooked once you see the sprouts at the top of the pan.
Future posts will have suggestions on how to add this protein rich ingredient to your daily cooking, for now you can serve your cooked quinoa with soya bean sabji or mix it with roasted vegetables.
